Inside the Walls of HGA

It's hard to believe that there will be a storage room, literacy office, quiet study rooms, multipurpose room, and restrooms in this new expansion. I'm so excited that we're finally going to have our multipurpose room. We will be able to offer the community more opportunities to join our family programs. By the speed they are working, it will seem the project will be done in no time at all.

A closer look...
As we look in on all of the action, we can see walls being put up and rooms coming into place. It is incredible how fast our guys got these walls up.
This picture is a view from Blair St. The wonderful arches that match our entry way to the library are already in place! The guys are busy trying to complete the rest of the addition as well. Lucky for us that it was sunny on Tuesday :)

As the Anticipation Builds Up
The anticipation of the Home Gardens Library builds up as the new community center rises on this bright and shiny day. The staff and public have watched the construction workers pull long hours on this project. We cannot wait to see the final results.

Starting the Walls

After all of our excitment in seeing the wood come in, we also had the opportunity to watch the beginning of our study rooms being built. These pictures show the great improvement of the construction workers, and how quickly they work to get the construction done. These pictures are only a small glimpse of what we will see tomorrow. Tomorrow we will find additional walls that connect to the ones you see today. The first two pictures show where our quiet study rooms will be. The last pictures show where an office and the storage room will be.

How much wood would a HGA CHUG!!

Wood has arrived and was put to the test at the Home Gardens library. Inside the library you can see that both doors were wide open and men were walking in and out with long pieces of 4x4s. Its was a scary but exciting site. I had no clue what they were going to do but slowly the pieces were coming together. A big puzzle was in the making and I was privileged to be a part of it. Once the wood was hammered on the floor, it was ready to be lifted up. I just imagined how heavy it could have been, but everyone helped and it soon became a wall, the great wall inside to protect the library from the soon to be entryway outside. After today I have much respect for our workers trying to make this expansion happen. The team work is amazing and the end product is very highly anticipated. :)

What used to be the quiet study room and conference rooms has been completely flipped from the inside out. It's hardly recognizable. These are shots from the joining of the exisiting structure to the newly enclosed expanded area.
