Fighting Mother Nature
Unfortunately, no one can predict the weather. The ground was heavily saturated with rainwater over the last bout of Southern California storms taking place during the past 2 weeks. So much for "Sunny California!"

Bring on the cement!
Construction is going very well on this bright December day. The construction workers are working hard to stay on schedule. Preparations for the foundation are in process. The frame for the foundation has already been set. We can't wait to see what it will look like after the cement is poured in. The brick wall near the public entrance to the fire station is also being constructed. We are still seeing a few more trenches being dug. Keep up the good work guys!

Construction after a Rainy day
After the Thanksgiving break we came back to the unpleasant scenery of the construction area filled with puddles. As you can see, the construction area is flooded with water, due to the rain. The rain did not allow the construction workers to proceed with their task for the entire day. When the puddles clear, the construction workers will proceed with their daily functions.

Dig! Dig! Dig!
Our guys are hard at work, still measuring and digging out trenches. More trenches have been dug since we checked on them last week. It would be nice to get an aerial view of the site. It is interesting to see this process, since we are not able to get this kind of view once the building is up. The dirt pile has gone down significantly since the beginning of the dirt moving process. The guys are doing a very good job and they are working rapidly.

Pipes are coming in!!!
So now that they are done playing with the dirt, they are getting to the installing of the pipes. We could see the trenches being dug and the pipes are coming in!!! Although, not quite sure what these pipes are for it is very neat to see. Maybe water!!! We will have to wait and see. But wait... last minute update! They are still not done with the dirt. He is still moving the dirt around! The dirt that was moved on Monday to make piles by the children Tot Lot is now being spread even. This only the middle of the week, I wonder what new progress will happen by the end of the week.

More Dirt!
Just a days ago the land of Home Gardens Library was flat, once again piles of dirt are continuing to appear in the construction area. The bulldozer is still digging up dirt and pushing it towards our mini children's playground. Seeing the flat surface just a day ago made me think that the building of our new community room was about to start. But seeing the new piles of dirt again made me realize that its going to take much more time. Our wait continues.....

Flat Lands of HGA!
As I was walking up the library stairs, I couldn't help but to notice how far the construction had gone! They have come a long way and not only does it look different, but the dirt is flat.....WOW! No more piles of dirt every where! It's looking really good and I can't wait for it to be done. I want to see it finished already!

Eardrum Break!
Wow! I can't believe what a week break from the construction traffic can do for your eardrums! On the other hand, I can't believe how much work was done during that week that I missed! :(
To the untrained eye, it appears they dug a hole and then refilled it in with dirt. To a more eyewitness account, they actually dug at least 4 ft below the existing elevation to compact the soil and ensure we don't go rockin' and rollin' too much during a quake. (Not a big fan of re-shelving all of those books afterwards, if you know what I mean...)
We have a somewhat level "field of dreams" around back and I can't wait to see what they do next week!

Lookin' Good

After being away for a couple of days and returning to a pile of dirt where the basketball court use to be, I was surprised and happy to find out that FINALLY construction had begun! It looked as if we were about to get a large swimming pool, but no it was just the dirt that had been dug out. Oh well, maybe next year.

The story so far....
It was very surprising to look out the office window and see that we no longer had a basketball court. All you can see now are piles of cracked cement and dirt.We also don"t have our walk way leading up to the firestation anymore : ( .... (how am I going to get my cup of coffee now?)
I personally cant wait to see our quiet study and Friends of the Library Room get knocked down and then re-built.
